Directing

“We’re With the Band” (short film)

I directed this short film about rock-and-roll roadies. We shot with Alanis Morissette for about a week while she was on tour. The cast features a talented bunch of actors and improvisers, as well as some of Alanis’s actual crew.

The short made its way into the hands of the folks at Playtone and Comedy Central, who hired us to re-shoot it as a pilot.

Shooting this was insanely fun, and worth every bit of the damage to my eardrums.

“Sorority Sluts 3: SPRING BREAK! (The Outtakes)”

I wrote and directed this PG-rated short about XXX films. It’s not as porn-y as it sounds (but if you’re at work you might wanna turn down the sound and shut your office door).

“Only 7 minutes long, but entirely hilarious – even the cast list is a gag”.
– Matt Singer, Movie Poop Shoot

“Normally bad porn movie ideas feel really tired but this is so well acted and shot that it works.”
– Will Ferrell, “Will’s Picks” on FunnyorDie

The JUNO Awards (comedy segments)

When Alanis was asked to host the Juno Awards*, she asked me if I would help out with some day-of, run-and-gun sketches and so I said, “why not, eh?” That year the Juno Awards won a Gemini Award** for Best Music, Variety Program or Series.

“Alanis Gets Naked”

Back in the day, I used to perform a magic trick that ended with me pulling a $20 bill out of my hoo-ha (well, a fake hoo-ha built into the nude suit you see here). After Janet Jackson’s “Nipplegate” fiasco, it seems the hoo-ha-having nude suit had found its destiny.)

“Alanis Auditions for the Junos”

I learned two things while shooting this piece:

1. that Alanis is a gifted comedienne.

2. that Bassett Hounds look great in sequins.
