Mother-eff’ed

Sometimes I write about being a mom.
Sometimes I write about being a 14-year-old boy trapped in the body of a mom.

Uh, Anyone Got An Emmy Dress Lying Around?

I am humbled, honored, and flat-out gobsmacked to say that I have been nominated for a Creative Arts Emmy. Here’s some proof so you know it’s not just the Sharpie-sniffing talking:

IMG_2446The category is Outstanding Short-Form Animated Programming, and it’s for the Disney show “Wander Over Yonder” on which I was a staff writer. If you haven’t seen the show, you have gotttttta check it out. And not just because I demand it (which I do), but because it’s so dang excellent — it’s hilarious and smart and heartfelt and the animation is staggeringly beautiful — oh yeah, and the main character is played by Jack McBrayer. Does it get better than that? No, I say, it does not.

The ceremony is in a couple of weeks and it all feels a little – make that a lot – surreal, but the truth is that it’s just the cherry on the cake that was getting to work with the show’s creator, Craig McCracken, producer Lauren Faust, and their ridiculously talented crew. As my Great Aunt Naomi would have said, “a bettah buncha people nevah lived”. (By which, I think she meant, they’re real nice folks.)

…in the meantime, I’m off to find myself an outfit. I’m thinking I’ll go for a subtle look, something along these lines: cher_2
